MoMA’s ‘Talk to Me’ is a look at how people interact and communicate with objects. It reminds me of something a little like MoMA’s curators putting together an ITP show.

I am particularly excited about this because I’m sort of in the show. I didn’t fully know it at the time I signed up, I got to play a role in one of area/code’s games at the exhibit: Helix. Loose attempt at explaining all this: area/code used SNP data and traits from my DNA (via 23andme) to create a card game that I could play against another person. Each person’s deck of cards fits some profile of their DNA. Each card has sides with one of four colors and the player’s job is to create a chain (strand) with the cards. The person to collect the most cards (ie, the most strands) at the end of the game wins the game.

I sat down with my friend Alli recently and talked about inspiration and a few of my recent hacks.

You might remember last year when I put together a team to participate in the New York 48 Hour Film Project. We had a lot of fun last year and learned so much that we decided we just had to do it again. This past weekend, my team ROUGHCUT, made another short film: Feint.

The required elements: Genre: Horror; Prop: String Instrument; Line: I can’t believe I cancelled my plans for this. (In the form of either a statement or a question).

We short-form blogged the whole film-making process using Twitter. Our film premiered this past Wednesday at Sunshine Cinema. We put a copy of the short on YouTube for your viewing pleasure.

My team’s made the list of the top 12 teams in NYC for our film “Page Interrupted”! A screening and awards ceremony will take place this Sunday evening. This event is planned to start at 7:00 pm on Jul 15, 2007 at Two Boots Pioneer Theater.

Two overall NYC winners will be chosen (and 8 others will be selected before the end of the month) for prizes and the chance compete again at the national level.
